The
Origin of the MC-GPS Magnavox the Leader in World-Renowned GPS Technology and Corvallis Microtechnology, Inc. the Leader in Rugged Hand-Held Computers Through a joint technical effort, CMT has integrated a Magnavox GPS Engine with CMT's MC5 hand-held computer to provide the most powerful integrated GPS/GIS data collection unit on the market. Tremendous effort and resources were put into this project to overcome the many difficulties incurred while trying to integrate these two state-of-the-art technologies. This multi-million dollar project that took more than two years to complete was 100% financed by CMT. The Magnavox engine had to be integrated into a hand-held, waterproof data collector which must maintain a strong Radio Frequency signal from the antenna to the GPS engine. This project also included very complicated electronics as well as software for interfacing the MC5 and GPS engine. Magnavox, pleased with the outcome of this project, has introduced CMT into their distribution channels. MC-GPS has also enhanced CMT's marketing channels to promote this new product. More than 100 magazines and newspapers have published press releases for MC-GPS, and CMT now has a complete marketing and sales department in charge of this product. MC-GPS is currently being used by many major corporations such as Georgia Pacific, Weyerhaeuser, US Forest Service, and International Paper. All of these companies endorse the product and use it in their operations daily. Within 6 months after MC-GPS was introduced, it was already being used in the following countries:
You can see this success story in popular GPS publications such as GPS World, GIS, Earth Observation and others.
Measurement Devices and
Data Collectors
We are looking for the opportunity to work with you to integrate your unique measurement system with our rugged waterproof computer system. Working together with you on your project, CMT will put substantial time and effort into R&D and engineering. We are one of the few companies in the world capable of providing a well-designed, integrated product. Of course, you can hire outside people to do IC design, system hardware design, operating system design, BIOS design, and mechanical engineering design. Imagine how high the costs of doing this would be. CMT invested millions in the MC-GPS project. Can you find people with the updated technological capabilities to accomplish this? Can you afford not to let CMT, a company with many years of experience in this field, save you time and money? In the 1990's, the only way to survive will be to have a PC built into your measurement device. Work with CMT so you can continue to compete in the high technology industry for years to come.
When the final product is completed, CMT will
aggressively market it. Both companies will benefit from increased sales, greater
distribution channels, and a more powerful product line. Dimensional
Measurement Interface
CMT has developed Statistical Collector/Analyst packages including CMT SCA software, Mitutoyo caliper, Federal gage, and micrometer. CMT also designed an electronic interface and device driver to interface with each individual device. There was a substantial amount of electronic design, computer science, and mechanical engineering involved in this complex project. This system is currently being used successfully by many renowned companies:
The USDA Forest Service, a major natural resource management agency, needed an intelligent, rugged, waterproof data collector to facilitate the collection of a wide range of field data. They needed software which would emulate their current field forms, provide extensive error-checking during data entry, eliminate transcription errors and export field data in a computer-ready format compatible with existing mainframe-based software. The USDA Forest Service came to CMT for a solution. CMT worked extensively with managers and field personnel to perfect this field data collection system. The Forest Service was so happy with the result that they have contracted CMT to produce several additional software packages over the years, including the National Cruise Program, Silviculture, Reforestation, Fuels Inventory and Log Scaling.
